Rain-X + vinyl
Friday, May 20, 2005 10:41 PM
I've rain-x-ed all of my windows and love it. Won't ever go back. But I was about to put on my JBO sticker on my rear window and thought better about it. Does anyone know if the rain-x will keep the vinyl from sticking well? I don't want the sticker to peel off in a week. Any ideas how to strip the rain-x off the window?

Maybe lacquer thinner, acetone, or some kind of solvent. Rain-X isn't too hard to remove.

Id just give it a couple of weeks, your Rain X will be wore off by then, then you can put your sticker on then re-rain x your windows agian.

yeah rain-x isnt too hard to remove like cracker said, but with it still on your vinyl wont stick to the window as good as opposed to if the window was bare. Thats the first question they asked me when i got my banners put on, did you use rain-x on the windows. I wax my windows when i wax my car too.

I work with vinyl all the time, some rubbing alcohol will work just fine and won't strip the paint off your car. if you clean it with an aammonia based cleaner (windex) the vinyl won't stick for long either, however if you use windex it and then use the alcohol you will get a good clean surface to stick to. after about 30 min (let it sit out in the sun) you can put the rain-ex back on the window. why wait? you want the sticker to suck down to the surface tightly so that non of the rain-x gets under the edges and cause it to lift. hope this helps ya out.
