BOMEX BODYKIT ON CAVALIER 2002..fitting issues,,,,
Saturday, May 21, 2005 12:14 PM
Wuz up J's,

I just bought a Authentic Bomex Bodykit for 00-02 cavaliers....and took it to the shop and installed it...well.....everything looks good, besides some issues.....first, The signal lights do not fit.....how come???the space is tighter now.....second, the rear bumper was kind of falling to the ground a bit...so the shop installed some brackets to hold it....thirs, the shop had to cut a part from the stock rear bumper because the bomex rear bumper didnt have that part, and it would left a hole right below the tailights.......and fourth....because the bomex do comes with a hole for the tag in the rear bumper....I do not know how to put my tag now, because the old bumper had a background to hold it.....I hope you all understand what I mean......now......my questions are:
what can I do about the signal lights?
what can I do about the tag??
and are all bomex like that?

Thank you in advance!!

for the tag, i have just lined up the plate and drilled holes to mount the rubber brackets in before. then you can just screw the plate down. I'm not sure about the signal lights.

The bomex rear is made to go OVER the stock rear. The licence plate im pretty sure is still suppose to be attatched to the stock rear bumper

I also got a True Bomex front for my 02.. But at the time I bought mine (which was Jan 02) they made the kit like the 95-99 so it will actually over lap about a 1/4" of the headlamp and corner lamp or up to the Nipples on the headlamp lense..

Here is a pic for refrence..

I had the same problems with my kit. I am still trying to figure out what to do about my corner signals. Does your signal(s) stick out further than the kit? With my kit I just used mesh for the license plate, as for the kit hanging in the back, I molded mine to fix it. I still need to work at it to get it perfect though, i think the trunk is hitting mine hard and causing stress cracks.

Sorry bout the pic not showing up,, But now you can look at my sig to see what it looks like.. Anyway.. You'll prob. have to take te cover back off the car, re-install the corner lamps with the bumper off the car, then start re-fitting it, you'l most likely have to cut and sand some off the corners around the headlamp and corner lamp..to get it to fit snuggly. It's aggrivating i know but its worth it.

Carboncav: Is your front bumper smooth with your lights or does it overlap the bottom of the light?

YES you put the bomex rear bumper over the stock bumper

im not sure how well it will fit over the 00-02 bumper , since the kit was originally designed for the 95-99 cars

Well seeing as how I trashed My bomex rear about a month after putting on the car, I got the Sound Speed SS type 3 rear cover, And yes the Bomex rear is made to fit over the stock bumper cover..
