HID / Xenon?
Thursday, June 02, 2005 6:57 PM
Odd question, but here goes. I have an 05 Cavalier, and I ordered Xenon's from Ebay. This one seller sent me broken ones and I'm in this huge dispute case with him right now, but that isn't the issue. The lights he sent me said 9007 8500K HID. They were EuroDeZigns. Well, the bulbs that were in the case were blue. Like my old Xenons. Well, I ordered a new set from someone else, and they came in the same package. 9007 8500K HID EuroDeZigns... Yet, the lights look rainbowish. I installed them and they are bright as hell and shine far.

My question, are these Xenon's, or HID's? What did I originally have...? Just has me a little confused. They work though and look good

There neither. There just blue coated halogen bulbs. I had some 6000K eurocrap bulbs and those things sucked. My silverstars gave a hella lot more light output compared to those.

HID? Do you know how HIDS work. Do some research. Just because you buy some bulbs dosen't mean you have HID's. Theres alot more than bulbs to HID's. Check the history.

Little Bastard, cram it. I'm asking a question since I don't exactly know the difference, and you people here do, hence I'm here for opinions and answers. You don't have to be a douschbag about it...

My bulbs aren't coated in blue either, the glass looks almost rainbowish like I said, but they look great

Euro Dezigns are by far the worst bulbs ever made, I had them, and I had to drive around with my high beams just to get the same light output as my stock low beams.

P.I.T Makes a pretty nice bulb. Thats what i have in my 00 cavy right now, no complaints. But with that group deal that is going on for the HID's, just not sure i want to drop the cash when i thinking of selling mine and getting an 03...owell

Holy s*it, $300 for a decent HID system...? I'll stick my with neon's, LOL $300 is just a tad too much for headlights of all things. Thanks for the link though

Silverstars are good but are more of a clear white light. As for close to hid output theres no halogen bulb out there that comes close.

Are HID's really worth it? Does anyone have a good system installed? It may be something I'll look into when I get a better job or want to go all-out, but for now I'm stickng with my bulbs. I draw good attention with em

I had a set of HID's on my s10. They were great. Color temp was 8000K, (blueish white light) and i could see everything. I believe that if your car didnt come with a HID factory installed, than it is illegal. Not sure though.

I would suggest getting a 5000K or 6000K kit though, its whiter light without the blue and it gives the "brighter" effect. Dont fall for the 10000K kits though, they may be purple in color but they wont be as effective as the lower K kits do. Also, you gotta have cones in your headlight housings (which 03-05 dont have but you can make em) so that it wont glare and blind everyone coming your way.

Get rid of those bulbs. Theyre cheap unsafe and ILLEGAL. Do it the easy (and cheaper) way: get some SilverStar bulbs. Legal, safe, whiter light than stock. They wont look as fancy, but for the price and time its well worth it.

This makes no sense. You are telling me that the cheaper "Euro" bulbs are illegal, yet silverstars are fine...? Its not exactly cheaper either since the Silverstars cost more money. I don't see how their cheap since they work great for me, I don't see how they are unsafe, and I've been in front of cops and driving with these lights for about 2 weeks and cops have not even double looked at me. So I'm a little lost here...
