Had a quick question... I have a black and silver wing on my Cavy. Its a pretty nice one too. My question, since being on the car, getting hit with rain, etc, the black on it looks a little dull now. If I use a normal clear coat on it, will it keep a shine? Is there a special kind of clear coat I should use, or will it just come off anyways?
has it been cleared once before?
2004 Turbo cavalier 11PSI and blown!
I don't think so... Actually no. I put it together, it stayed in my room for like a month until I felt like putting it on, then I just did. Was I supposed to put any protective layer on?
It came already black from the factory, and I didn't put anything on it.
Im guessing this is a metal wing? Id just take it off.......
Yes, thats a solution. Here, you give me $300 for an Evo wing, and I'll take it off
Who says u need a new wing to put on right away? Taking that one off will only make yer car look better.
You don't even know what my car looks like, so shush!
Now back to the question at hand... Will it work if I clear coat it, and do I need a special brand or type?
I dont need to know what yer car looks like
To answer yer question, i wouldnt use rattle can clear coat, I would use automotive clear coat, have a shop or someone u know that can paint spray a couple coats and it will bring the shine back, make sure to clean the wing first.
I planned on pretty much doing it myself. I do know places around that sell automotive paints, primers, clear coats, etc. Basically, put on a few coats of automotive black, and auto clear coat, an thats all?
Basically thats all you would need to do. But i don't reccomend using aerosol cans, but if you have to do 4-6 light even coats of black & 2-3 of clear.
