Iam looking to put in fog lights i need to know the size i would need if i didn't go with the factory ones. Also are aftermarket better than the factory.
I'm looking into this as well since I have an 05 and want to put in fogs.
I put mine in last weekend. I had a base coupe with the sport appearance package and I found an LS sport bumper. I found factory fogs for $50 shipped at a junkyard, wired them into the parking lights and they work and look good. If you go this route, make sure when pulling the fogs at a junkyard that you get the "plug" that goes into the back of the light and cut the wiring further back from the light so you can splice and wire it up. Let me know if you want more info. I added aftermarket fogs on my old '01 and it kind of looked ghetto, but to each their own.
I am trying to find some after market one that will fit into the factory openings. You don't know the size of the light. That might be helpful.
if you want a real install, get the dimmer switch with the foglight switch too, and just send the wiring to the lights. like blueakron04 said, cut as far back from the connector as possible, to allow for splicing.
also- SOLDER, and HEATSHRINK. or, use some 3m electrical tape, the good stuff, not generic 1 dollar crap. i cant stress this enough.

There's a guy that had some good aftermarket foglights on his car that he got from Advance Auto that look like they fit perfectly.. I don't know if he's on the .org but his name on cardomain is thefastfangz, you could always ask him the name and brand of foglights he used. Also for those looking to do a factory foglight swap on their +03 Cavalier should realize they will need to do a LS Sport bumper switch in order to incorporate the factory foglights on their car. I've been talked with a couple Chevrolet Dealership plus a few bodyshops about this and they all told me the same thing, that an LS Sport bumper will be needed to add factory foglights. My guess is that the base/LS bumpers were not predrilled or are unable to accomodate the mounting of factory foglights. Also the cost of installation will vary greatly depending on how you want them installed. I read on a site where a guy said he told by a Chevy dealership that he needed $1,000 worth of work for the lights to function properly (which I think is crazy). There was also a guy on cardomain who had a forest green LS and did a swap to LS Sport bumper and incorporated factory foglights into his car, I don't know how much, but it was professionally done. I inquired about this myself and was quote about $300 including foglights, factory dimmer/switch, harness and everything else is needed, so I can only guess the installation price will greatly vary.
I hope that helps...
If you are willing to put some time into it yourself and you want the factory fogs, you will need a ls sport bumper, fogs and the plugs. For all of this I paid $250 (195 for the bumper on ebay, 5 for the plugs and wires, and 50 for the fogs. Granted, I found a bumper that was the same color as mine. Use car-part.com to find some fogs in an area junkyard. Install it yourself. You really don't need a harness or switch for them unless you are determined to go that route. I simply spliced into the parking lights and they have been working fine. Good luck.
i have a pair of factory las sport fog lights from my 05 cav for sale, -mail me: pacrossbow@hotmail.com
