what things can I do to make adjustments to my trunk lid to get the sides to match up correctly?
The passenger side

Looks like the tail lights are the only thing that don't really match. It is a cavalier. What you wanna try to do is loosen the left side trunk light and see if you can push it over a bit towards the center of the trunk. If that does not work then do the same to the left side tail light on the quarter panel this time but push it outwards of course. Should work. You can't really fix it by adjusting the trunk. The lines look pretty good on it that pushing it around would just make another side worse. That's what I can tell from the pics of course.
Was the car ever in any accident?
Oooppps Since you are asking about the right side. Just turn the plastic knob on the inside bottom of the trunk lid to the right (inwards) a bit and see how it fits till you like it. But from the pics it looks like the left side the drivers side is what is your bigger problem. The light looks like it is resting on the other. Is it?
the DS is a little close, it may have shifted when put back after tinting them. I will try to shift the PS to make it appear that the trunk is more level, but if you look at the blue part just below the PS light you will see where it is more noticeable. after looking at the DS again in the pic it looks like it's a little higher than it should be, not much. as for it being wrecked it wasn't with me, but i did by it with 60 miles on it. I have been noticing little things that don't add up, but no direct evidences that it was wrecked. like when I put my koni's on all the bolts on the drives side were he-man tight, and the passenger side was like butter. i just had a thought how about adjusting the latch itself. I'm am still a little fried for working on a friends tranny yesterday, it's really humid in the summer here lol, so if something doesn't make sense just shout out.
So the trunk was never taken off right?
If so then just say thanks to GM for producing a car with uneven body lines that's all.
You may just have never noticed it cause you never really looked until you took the lights out to tint. It is how it is. LOL. If you really really want. You may be able to adjust the filler panel (piece under light) but you have to take your rear bumper off to do that. And then you would have it looking off on the quarter panel.
Once you shift one thing the other area is affected.
Do not adjust the latch unless it is closing improperly. No need to move it. Just fiddle with the lights.
ok here we go again
remove the primary and secondary latch to see how the deck lid is closing
loosen the bottom 2 bolts and push it just a hair over to the side that has the wide gap
if that don`t work take a 2x4 put it in the middle of the deck lid have someone hold pressure on one side and you bend the other side
kinda make it give a arch so it matches the 1/4 panles
then ya go and adjust the bump stops re install the latches
if that is to complicated take it to a body shop to have a body man re align the deck lid for ya
can i haz bondo
