well im putting on my new rear bumper since i wrecked my last one .. the last one that was on was a @!#$ty install and im trying to do this one better myself not a body shop.. the crush bar has a piece of metal on the end extending about 2'' hopefuly u guys know wut i mean im thinking if i just grind that off it will work good? its hitting something obviously and wrinkles as i line it up im hoping its just the piece that sticks off the crush guard if not ill just take the whole crush guard off im selling the car anyway. but im hoping its just the extension that comes off the guard ill grind it off tonight..
So the part that goes along the bottom of the trunk is getting wrinkled. Just use L brackets to fix the wave. Space them out and drill them in. That way the top part of the bumper has something to rest onto.
And do not take the metal reinforcement off. Even if you are selling the car. You do not have to grind anything off on the rear to make that bumper fit.
no then the bumper wont go that far onto where its suppose to be..
Take the foam absorber all the way off if you have not already. If what I said before and what I just said now does not work then the bumper you got is a pretty bad fit.
Do you have any pics of what you are talking about because this is a pretty easy bumper to put on. Just slide right on and mark your drill holes.
I went for a whole day figuring all this crap out as well. By the time I was done, all I had to do was just take the whole foam absorber off and put the L brackets on.
Same as everyone else.
I know exactly what piece youre talking about....my rear bumper is cracked because of that piece & it doesnt fit far enough in towards the trunk so that the bumper lines up with the fender...whenever I do my widebody I will pull off the rear bumper and grind that down enough so that it doesnt crack again. So I say go ahead and grind it down. BTW I have a different bumper but I know what piece youre talking about.
Thx,
Michael

^^ im w/ dave on this. i have no clue what your talking about. my drift rear, all i did was drill out the rivits for the crush panel and the bumper fit perfectly (minus the sag)
i think i know what your talking about are you talking about the metal bar thats attached to the absorber right where your plate screws on so when you put you bumber on it pushes right on that if so i just took it off and bam fit like a glove do a search for
