i am just curious to see what you guys did to paint your drums and calipers i know to use high temp paint,where should i buy it from just @!#$ty tire or... and also what did you guys do to get the rust off i was just going to take a wire steel brush to it with a drill or a steel brush,but just was checking if i should maybe cover anyhthing up to prevent rust getting into brakes,also how to paint them,just so i get an idea when i do this so it doesnt look like the rats ass

lol i use normal tremclad paint and its holding up pretty nicely
I bought Plastikote Caliper paint, and used it 3 weeks ago, it has shown no signs of wear....
I just used some paint I bought from ACE and it's been on there over a year. I used a wire brush on the drums and calipers. Painted my wife's this past weekend......
tremclad i have lot's of that,i am guessing you did get high temp stuff though right,you said normal tremglad
?.Yea i was just gonna go with dupli-color, it seems to be half decent paint,even though it's like 10 bucks a can but wutcha yea gonna do i guess. (Also how many coats do you guys put on)

You don't need high temp paint for the brakes they dont get that hot. Just regular old spray paint works great. If theres no reason to spend extra, don't. I'm sure you can find other uses for the money. Like gas.

Yes, the pads get hot and heat up like that, but not the calibur (sp?) where the paint is on.
Ok so Porsche brakes do. But our cars aren't Porsches now are they.
Yes if by chance you have a high hp cavalier thats used for road raceing ( 1st you need your head looked at ) but then yes you should go with high temp. paint. Or if your car happens to be Herbie the love bug from the new movie you may want high temp paint as well. Otherwise plain old spray paint will do fine.

i bought the duplicolor caliper kit and did it yesterday and it came out great
yea that helps out alot ,what you mean you bought the kit?,theres a kit for it,i was just going to go out and buy a can....you guys have helped me out,i think i can paint them doesn't sound to difficult....thanks

dude I've seen costomer cars come in where the brakes are so heat it heats the wheel itself to the point where it hurts to touch the rim

drive around for about 10 mins in regular stop and go traffic. get out and touch your caliper (if you can) and tell me if its hot. they definitly get hot

They sell kits that come with a wire brush, brake cleaner, tape and of course the paint...
I just bought brake drum and caliper paint, Wire wheeled the drums and calipers, spayed the piss out of them with brake cleaner, then gave them 3 light coats. Turned out awesome and hasn't shown a sign of wear yet.
They get hot I said that. But not hot enough for the paint to come off. And yes you can melt and damage all kinds of stuff if you have a problem with your brakes. And then the color wont matter cause the caliper would need to be replaced anyway. I'm only trying to explain that under normal conditions the paint will not flake off. I have painted the brakes on all my cars since I was 16 years old and the only thing that used to be out was regular spray paint. Sure you could use engine paint as long as you didn't mind your calipers and drums matching your engine. But I wanted it to match my cars color.
The only time I ever had paint come off was when my pass side caliper on my '76 Monte Carlo froze on we when I was on my way to work going down I-95. When I removed it to replace it the paint did come off. But again not normal, if you prefer
the kit that is over priced then thats cool but please don't try to tell me that the way I've been doing this since most of you couldn't even ride a 2 wheeler is wrong.

okay i got lot's of tremglad lol,hope it works i wil let you guys know a month later, i will spray the piss out of it with brake cleaner we got some so,yea thanks i won't go out and spend that, o hey! u think the dupli color wheel paint will work you guys might have seen it the metallic silver stuff? cause i have painted some stuff silver on my car and it would go good,but if my rims are silver to ..meh,i was planning on doing it blue anyway.I will look and see what colors i have i know i got white and black,but thanks i prolly will just paint them with tramglad w/e i got.thanks guy...Greg

just went out today and bout a can of vht high temp paint and it says on the back "recommended or something our primor eneral or w/e,don't need primor eh i have some not the special stuff though they talk about,i'm sure it wil be fine if i just do a few coats after i get all the rust off and clean it with brake cleaner.don't even need primor am i not right...?

I dont think I"d go quite that far. Remember these are you brakes were talking about.
They will get dirty and nasty, besides its not like you'd ever notice a slightly different shade what with your tires being in the way and all.
