I have like 3 deep paint scratches that are 0.5-1'' long, I have covered them with touch up paint from the dealer but it doesn't look too good and its quite noticible if your standing closeby (couple feet). I'm thinking about either sanding it down with 1500-2000 grit or rubbing compound, or I want to redo it and use a toothpick or a finer brush, can I use some paint thinner to remove the touch up paint? What should I do?
you can try to take some 600 or 1000 to try to remove the touch up paint, but run your finger nail in the scratch if it stops then it`s to deep and will need to be repaired
but if ya don`t want to repair it at a shop then try the 1000 wet, don`t go to far or you will burn right through the factory paint, don`t buff it yet then touch up the scratch let it dry sand it with 1500 reapply more touch up paint, let it dry and sand it with 2000
but again ya need to be careful and kinda need experience with this so ya know how far ya need to go before ya burn through the factory paint
hope that helped

Actually big daddy did give you some good advice there... right on the money.
Nail gets caught... needs to be fixed by a shop...
or try what he said... odds are if your nail catches the panel will POSSIBLY need repainted...
oh no why should he believe me or you , we do it for a living right so that means we don`t know what we are talkin about

I understand what you're saying, but I can understand wanting other opinions to be safe... but you did give him really good advice. If I give someone good advice and they don't listen to what I said, it's no sweat off my back ya know? People are going to do what they want, irregardless if it's a good or bad idea. I just don't let it get to me. I mean, how many times have you read about someone wanting to spray bomb their car, you tell them it's a bad idea... and they do it anyway? I just live for working on people's cars and seeing their reactions when it's done... like this one that was just picked up yesterday
Latest project lol
Anywho's... to the author... big daddy was right on the button, good luck with your car!
sorry man I didn't mean to upset u with that response. I appreciate your response, I just wanted other opinions/ideas also just to be sure.
