Cavalier Trunk swap help..
Tuesday, August 09, 2005 10:58 AM
I have an 03 cavalier coupe and I wanted to swap out the trunk with one from an 01-02 cavalier. Personally I really dislike the connected tail light strip on the newer models, but really like the front end of the newer models. This way I will have best of both worlds.

I have a few questions before I begin my search for the new trunk:

Will the reverse light wire harness and bulp housing twist into the 02 trunk reverse lamps? (Is it the same harness and clip setup?)

Will there be any alignment or fit problems with the 03 bumper?

Is there any aditional hardware of mods I have to make to have this thing fit right or does it bolt right on in place of the 03 trunk?

Thanks in advance.

Also, I have Electronic trunk release on my keyless entry remote. I want to make sure that this will still work. I know that I can fit like 97, 98, 99, 00 trunk lids too, but how new does it have to be for me to retain my keyless trunk feature?

trunk still uses the same latch, thus keyless entry will still work as long as you dont swap the latch

I think the CF back plate with older style taillights looks better IMO..
