Here is my wife's 03 with the new LS Sport kit I just had installed - still needs a little touch-up here and there (we got it used from Blas, my JBO friend) but it's going in the paint shop while we're on vacation. My Blue Cav has needed a girlfriend for some time and this sexy thing just may attract his attention!
Anyway, I removed her graphics and shaved the side moldings last weekend and I'm having trouble explaining to her why this car looks so much better without them. She has even gone so far as to request me to REinstall them if she changes her mind!
Please help me explain this. And please be respectful because she'll be reading this and is new to the JBO. She may even end up with a screen name if I can convince her to mod this thing out...
Thanks for helping me get these moldings to the curb where they belong!
Steve

Wise Man Say: He Who Shave Side Moldings in Morning Spend Rest of Day Draining Blisters!
Shaving the side moldings is like popping a zit. It removes an ugly bump on an otherwise smooth surface.
That's a great analogy. Let's get 10 or so more so we can "peer pressure" her into keeping them off!
Steve
here's my attempt at persuasion (pics aren't the greatest):
Before:
After:
It just looks so much cleaner and smoother. In my opinion, the side moldings break up the cleanliness of the cavy's shape and make it ugly. Taking them off makes it look cleaner---especially on the LS Sport which has sideskirts (I think the moldings along with the sideskirts are just too much)
Aside from all that---it just makes it take longer to wax with the moldings on since wax gets stuck in them and you have to take the time to clean it out.
Took the words right out of my mouth, Red4 - Thanks!
Son of a B**ch, looks like she will NOT be reading this as I just thought to check my Recent Posts and there are a few comments that I made in some of the "spicier" forums that may get me in a little trouble...
That's all I need is for her to be on JBO and get bored and check my profile. Not that she's especially jealous but there would definitely be some fallout...
WHY can't I stay away from the Bad Threads - WHY?
Looks like the JBO will remain my little secret place to escape to for now...
But I will run all of your ideas by her!
Steve
I left them on the curb for the trash man, but she made me salvage them and put them back in the garage...
I think I've talked here into scrapping 'em though.
Too bad she made me take the CF front emblem off yesterday though and put the stock bowtie back on. Some people just don't appreciate good taste.
Steve
so, if this is your wifes car, why dont you let her do what SHE wants to do with HER car, and you can do what YOU want to do with YOUR car?

duh, thats an easy question, he has to make sure his cavalier has a sexy little girlfriend....not a ugly little zit faced one.....

Yeah man - you seem to be a little harsh.
I'm just trying to hook her up with a good look. Everyone knows that the side moldings look like junk. Seeing as how I am doing all of the work for free when I could be working on my own ride, I feel justified in trying to sway her opinion a little. I see no reason to bust my ass and not end up with a nice finished product.
She's the one who came to me and asked for advice. I would like to think that I know what makes a Cav look good and what doesn't. And most would agree that the ugly gold emblem has got to go.
Unfortunately, looks like its staying on hers. So I AM letting her do what she wants with her car, regardless of the fact that nothing else on the car is gold and it does not match...
You got something to say?
Yeah well screw you.
I've never flamed anyone's car in here even though I've seen some things that I wouldn't do...
People like you, who are devoid of any politeness or sense of common courtesy, should stay out of public forums. This is a community of enthuisiasts who are SUPPOSED to help and support eachother, not give eachother a hard time.
There are plenty of people who like my car - your opinion was never asked for. I've spent hours and hours on it, and having a dick like you tell me it doesn't look good doesn't change anything.
It's really sad when the 1% of guys in here who are @!#$s ruin a good thing for the 99% of us with any class.
If it doesn't change anything why do you get so pissy?
It doesn't change anything on my car. Don't like my decals, or my wheels, or my paint job? Your opinion counts Zero.
It DOES unfortunately change the way I feel toward humanity in general when jerks like you take shots at people who have done them no harm. Most of the people I have met in here are 100% quality folks, but when someone of your caliber pokes his ugly head out, it demeans the group as a whole.
Does it make you feel better about your own car to take a cheap shot at me? I've done nothing but try to help everyone I can in here. I did not deserve your criticism.
Why am I being "pissy"? Because I hate @!#$s. And when someone decides to atatck me for no reason, I defend myself.
If you don't understand that, you're every bit as ignorant as you seem.
so, anyway---leave the moldings off.
The kit looks really nice on her car.
Personally, I think the mouldings on any third gen look fine. They were designed to be an integral part of the car, they blend in well.
The coupes have big doors. The moulding helps to add definition to any otherwise boring surface. Do they look better than no moulding at all? Well, maybe not, but they do look better than door dings. Check out any late model RSX and you will see what I mean - they are not available with mouldings.
To me, black mirrors and door handles look much worse than the body colored bodyside mouldings.
Blue Cav, you need to calm down. These forums are about 80% opinion in the first place, even if someone does or doesn't agree with your choice. When FstCavz24 said something, it was just that he was wondering what makes you the ultimate "fashion designer" for cars? It wasn't a jab at your dead grandma or something retarded. A comment about a car shouldn't make someone " change the way I feel toward humanity in general when jerks like you take shots at people who have done them no harm." Lol take a chill pill, and relax, dude.
On a positive note though, I do agree that shaved moldings/badges/handles/locks are the way to go. A lot sharper looking than the everyday Cavy you see driving down the street.
