rear ground effect falling off.
Thursday, August 11, 2005 4:39 PM
I have a 2002 cavalier LS sport, yellow. The rear ground effect on the passenger side of the exhaust outlet is falling off because the clips are broken. The dealership wants $150 for the piece, not painted. Any one know a good permanent fix or where I could get a new one cheap?

Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Dan

The junk yards haven't been paying off.

I was thinking of the 2 sided tape thing, but I was afraid that it would just wear off over time and car washes. Maybe I will try super glue.

Buy the 3m tape that auto body supply stores carry and use that. As long as you get the right stuff, it should last a really long time. Just make sure both mating surfaces are super clean and treat them with an adhesion promoter. What do you think the side moldings on our cars are held on with? GM just uses a high grade double-sided tape.

SCREWS.... i did it to my front lip when i had it. you can drill holes through the skirts from underneith and screw it in. its behind the skirt so they're not even visable. screws are better than tape.

I tried screws, but there isn't enough of a lip for the screw to grab onto. The front lip is bigger, I have screws holding my front piece on already.

A whole new body kit would be the best, just need the money.
