I was wanting to convert the rear on my 02 fire to an 03+ rear.. I read on some post that it was a direct bolt on. is that true? and what would I need. thanks

all you need is the tail lights, plastic trunk panel and rear bumper.
so I don't need the whole trunk lid? and do i just connect the previous reverse light wires to the new ones on the trunk lid?

TRUST ME! YOU DO NEED AN 03+ TRUNK LID! That is unless you modify an 03+ tail light bar by cutting all the mounting bolts off between the tail lights because GM had to be @r$$e$ about it and put holes all the way across 03+ trunk lids. You can cut them off and use the factory trunk backup light mounts to bolt it in and run 3m double-sided body molding tape across the top and bottom to hold out water. I know this for a fact because I have a 2004 and took my tail lights and light bar out and replaced them with 02 down tail lights and the RK Sport carbon fiber strip with outer light surrounds. I'm not using the lights that came out of mine for anything and they will never go back in the car...so....

the quarter panels and trunk lid are shaped completely different. so without doing extensive body work, it's not going to happen.

get a sunfire (any year, do a 03+ rear conversion if needed) and swap a cavy front on it... voila, 03 sunfire rear with a cavy front.
Ok confused. I want to make the conversion as easy as possible. if it would just be easier to get the 03+ trunk lid, tail lights and bumper I'd rather just do that. taking pieces off my existing 02 trrunk lid just kinda confuses me. as for the new revers lights on the 03+ can i just connect the existing wires from the old bumper to the new lights. Never done anything like this, all new to me.. is it hard to get the bumper off. Ireally don't know anything about body work. Just want my car to have a smaller ass than the one it has right now.. bumper is kinda big. + i like the rear on the 03+ better. thanks in advance..
