i wanted to know how you guys tinted your back window...the instructions that came with it tell me to cut the tint into 4-5" strips and install horizontally....but i didnt know how that would look... can you guys help me out and post a pic of how it looks and/or how you did it? thanks once again guys

doing tinting right is difficult, i would suggest having it done properly at a shop so you get a product you like. also make sure something is done about the dot matrix on the top of the window, either paint it (like i did) or put a strip of vinal or something there.

so far i've done my two back small windows and they look better than what any shop within a 30 min drive can do : - / so im going to try to do it myself and then if not i guess i will have to take it somewhere...wont hurt me to try. i was worried about the dots but i did a search and i was thinking of either the final or sanding then. thanks for the help.

to do the rear window, you have to lay it out on the outside of the glass, cut to fit and use a heat gun to shrink it where it needs to be shrunk, when its laying flat on the curved glass, then you can apply it to the inside of the glass. If the tint you have isn't large enough to cover the whole glass, then id suggest getting it professionally done, otherwise you have to do it in 2 pieces and hide the join in one of the defroster traces

The strips look fine from the outside, if you have defroster lines, and all the overlaps are on the lines. That is the old school technique though. People above mention doing the rear window in ones piece, which is ideal. I just had a 05 Honda Accord coupe tinted, with the rear being one piece. Other cars I have had tinted, 03 Honda Civic coupe, 92 Toyota Paseo, both have the rear window tinted in one piece.

I good tinter will tint over the dot matrix with no problem.

I asked the tinter I used, about sanding the dot matrix, and he said that one problem from it is that if you do not sand 100% of the dot off, it might rust there since the dot matrix has metal properties.

by the time you buy the tint, tools, and spend your time, its worth just getting it done IMO.

i went to a shop, got my rear window and 2 little side windows tinted in less then an hour, got a lifetime warranty against fading and bubbling, all for a little over 100$

trust me, some stuff you shouldnt screw with. window tiniting is one of those things! (IMO)

Multi strip tint jobs look like ass. I've always been able to tell. The place I took my car did a killer job tinting 1 piece and covering the dots. Thanks to hotwhlaz68 for the heads up on the shop to take it too.

doing your back window is alot different than your two side windows, believe me, i have done it, your back window is a concave surface, going out like a box, you need a heat gun to shrink it, and mold it to the window, its not as easy as just pushing water out from behind the tint
