If you just want to have a button inside the car to release the trunk, you can certainly do it, and it's not that hard.

You just need a trunk release kit... They aren't expensive at all.

I have a few kits in stock... $30 shipped. Contact me if you'd like one.

I tried looking for these things on a scrap yard and they were all gone! I just got the universal kit from Jason and it works great! All you need is an alarm or the factory keyless entry system to hook it up to. It's a simple 2 wire job. Just for kicks I called the dealer to see what it will cost and they told me $170 CAD! HA!

If you look at the trunk where the lock is, the power trunk solenoid is right below it to the left. It's a huge contraption that's bigger than the lock with one wire going to it. That's what you're looking for.

Wiring will definitely help. If you don't have one now, it doesn't have the wiring there.

Beat it like it owes you money

bringing a thread back from the dead here, the newer cavaliers had the push button option wired in to pop their trunk from inside the car. Can I just canibalize a junkyard car or is there more work to retrofit this onto a 00 cav with remote open trunk?
if it works it will be my jdm piece *junkyard domestic*
