I was curious how the heck you change the Headlight bulbs on a 2001 Cavalier? There is no access through the back and I can't figure out how to pull the housing out. I took the two bolts out and it still won't come out! Why did they design this car so stupid!
my 03 has a metal clip that holds in the headlight along with the two bolts... try getting some long needle-nose pliers and reach down behind the housing (where the wires are coming out) squeeze the clip and pull. shouldn't be too different from 01-03..

i dont know anything about the 2000-2002 cavies. but this is the clip sergei is referring to on the 03 cavie. good luck man.

there is a slot between the headlight and the sidemarker. look i n it and put a long screwdriver in it and you pry a tab outwards to release the sidemarker. now unbolt the 2 13mm bolts on top of the headlight and pull up on the headlight. Do the same for the other side.
