heres the story. im running 18" wheels with a 40mm offset, so they stick out more than usual. im also running the quite expensive BFG KDW2s. i noticed, after riding with my ground controls quite low, that my tires had cuts in them from the 1/4 panel lip directly above the tire. i raised the car up to eliminate this problem but i still want to be able to safely dump my car for shows and not worry about ruining the BFGs anymore.
on to the question. whats the best and safest way to roll the 1/4 panel lips so i can ride low again and not rub?

Baseball bat. Seriously. Take the tire off, put a baseball bat in between the lugs, and roll the rotor or drum. They also make a machine to do the same thing as well.

why would you roll the rotor or drum? i dont get ur explanation
ive seen the machine, and i believe eastwood sells them for around a hundo. which isnt a bad deal considering its gonna be done right.
i rolled my front fenders with a socket inbetween the tire and fender, but 1/4 panel seams way to strong to do something similar. im mainly worried about ruining the shape of the 1/4 panel.

I used a baseball bat in my car- However, I had airride @ the time, so I just sat the bat on top of the tire- and lowered the car onto the bat a little bit..
Put the car in neutral and just pushed the car back and forth slowly, while pushing down on the bat..
Worked great.
Why not just take a grinder and cut the lip back?? Its about an inch wide.

You roll that so you get an even round roll.

Rolling it would be much better. If you use a grinder, you'll probably have a sharp edge that could reach out and bite you or the tire if it would rub still.

that fell about 30 yards short of making any sense.
do what red devil said. i have air too so i did my fronts that way. the rear i cut slits in the metal and beat it up w/ a hammer
if ya did just grind off the lip the 1/4 panel is welded and bonded to the wheel house so no more lip no more bond and the 1/4 would just be flappin in the brezze
why not use a hammer and dolly and just re shape the metal

i am gonna go out and attempt the baseball bat idea soon, since i have ground controls il just adjust them low enough to make it work. thanks for the input guys.

So?
Run a few small pop rivets.
Who cares about a sharp edge? If your tire is hitting the edge, then you didn't cut it back far enough in the first place..! Also, if you aren't a complete tool, you should be able to make the cut so its not all jagged and sharp w/ a grinder.
