Well its gonna cost a bit.. all of the windows have to come out, old roof cut off a parts car, welded onto your car, smoothed out and repainted, then glass reinstalled.

Okay....just dont laugh at me...lol

I was driving down the interstate yesturday, going about 60mph... when all of a sudden my hood "somehow" comes unlatched. It comes hauling ass backwards, cracks the ever living @!#$ out of my windshield, and the part of the hood that is taller then the glass bends even further back denting the @!#$ out of my roof.

Hood, and glass can be replaced. No biggie....i'm just worried about the roof.

@!#$ up, huh?

any opions, options, advice.....would be great. I'm really pissed that this @!#$ happend. I also got my car broken into last Monday night. Stole headunit, subs, amp, school bag with my book in it, gym bag, iPod.

So needless to say, its been a bad week for me.

i think u should save ur money and buy a new car... i'd imagine a new roof would cost a pretty penny... unless u just wanna fill in the dents with bondo... which isnt really a good idea...

personally if it was me i would beat the dents out the best i could then feel it you would be able to beat them out to where it wouldn't take much filler at all but thats just my .02

thats probably what i'm going to do. My painter is also a body guy, so i'll probably take it to him after I get the hood and glass replaced. I can live with the roof dented for alittle, just the other "things" kinda get in the way

From what I have been told it is always a bad idea to use filler on a roof. since it has soo much stress on it the filler will crack. I would let a shop do the work and make sure to get warrenty on it. That way if it cracks u can take it back and they need to fix it.

No reason to feel silly. Its a mechanical failure out of your hands...happened to me, too. Check out my thread in the Jacked/Wrecked forum...

If you can post pics of the damage, we can see what work would be required...

roof`s deck lids and hoods are tricky to repair due to the large amount of sheet metal if you ever tried to fix a beg ass dent in a roof you will know that you will just be chasing the dent out farther and farther
my advice would be to replce the roof, do not buy a junk yard roof go to the delearship and buy new sheet metal, trust me working with junk yard parts is a bigger hassle then it`s worth
of course replace the hood latch
most roof are resistant spot welded and bonded to the structure of the car
so according to i-car the repair process need to be the same and 3m`s panle bond does that one you have the interior out all glass and all spot welds and panel bond removed on the new panle you would use a plastic coated abrsive disc apply panle bond to the in side of the roof and on the car do not clamp the roof to much panel bond has glass beads in it that will tell you you went to far i use sheet metal screws to hold a panle in place
and if the shop has a resistant spot welder or even if you mig wled it 3m`s panle bond will not fail after you welded through it
replacing of any panle is time consuming and should be done by a professional that has the experience in the field
the front and rear glass also play a big part in a cars structual integrity so mak esure the glass guys are wearing gloves if they are not the grease off their hands will make the bond fail on the pinch weld
food for thought

can i haz bondo
