Can someone tell me what i should do to make sure i dont mess my trunk door up when i drill holes for my spoiler?

first check and double check where you want to drill your holes to make sure the spoiler will be centered then lay some masking tape over wher you are going to drill to prevent th e paint from chipping and first use like a 16th bit to drill a pilot hole then use the size drill bit of the bolts but dont press down to hard when drilling or you will leave a dimple in the deck lid
