what part of the car is this?
Tuesday, November 29, 2005 6:59 PM
Hi folks,

Stupid question. I just banged up the front left side of my car pretty bad. It's a 2000 Z24. I don't have a pic of it, but I gabbed this one of cardomain and highlighted the area (apologizes if this is your car! I just needed a demo).

So, what part of the body is this? Is it the front left quarter panel? Got a pretty good dent in it, and the paint is wrecked, but it's completely localized to that area. Was hoping to find the part from a junkyard and then figure out the labour with a friend. Not sure if it's even replacable, or if it would be cheaper to have the dent pulled out and repainted.

Thanks for any help.

Oh, and assuming that there's no damage to the headlight bracket it bolts onto (where the fender and bumper meet), then yes, it simply bolts on.

Not true. The way the corner light bolts in changes from 99 to 00 and again from 02 to 03.

the fender does look the same.. but they won't swap that easily.

they are the same, its the just bracket that has to be changed thats all. other than that the fenders are all the same.

Nobody's scared off here... All this activity happened while I was asleep on the East Cost. Just logged in to see if someone answered my question, and then all this.

Yes, ok, it was a stupid question. I said that in my post. I don't have a lot of experience with body part names, that's all. I do know a bit about other stuff. I installed my short throw shifter, re-upholstered my door inserts, swapped my gauges, installed my aftermarket stereo, installed clear corners. Small stuff. But whatever, it's cool. Got my answer in the first couple of posts. It totally makes sense that it's the fender. I know what fender flares are - I should have known. But I just wanted to be sure before I started looking.

Oh, and yes, whichever of my buddies I got to help with this would definately know what the part was. I'm out of town for a few months, and this is the first place I came to get help.

Thanks everyone. Guess this belongs in the Newb forum!

Later.

ease yup guys.for future referance: 2 mistakes, which you kinda hit on above: this should have in the newbie forum and take minute or two think and/or research the question. example: scroll through exterior forum or photos forums and i'm sure someone says something about fender and posted a picture. hell, i'll give another option: pm me with questions, if i can't help, i'll point in the right direction. not making fun of you or anything, but you got lucky people didn't lay into you harder.

btw, welcome, and i'm glad to hear you are a DIY guy. mad props for that

95-99 the brackets are welded to the fenders. How do you swap those?

people just cut them off and put the 00+ ones on. you know what im tryin' to say. just lettin' him know that if he does find a fender thats off a 95-99 or 03-05 that he can still use it.
