I am getting so fed up with my passanger headlight on my 04 cav. The tab broke about a year ago so I bought a new oem headlight and replaced it, I have also installed new bulbs in the headlight twice. I noticed the light starting to bounce up and down again when I hit bumbs so I figured the tab must be broken again. Fortunately it is not but for some reason it still moves up and down (could be because the tab screws don't tighten that much anymore). Also the light sometimes goes on and off, so I checked the bulb and it is still good but the wire harness and their conection to the headlight looks to be bad. One of the three pins is kinda burnt and doesnt make a good conection with the wire harness plug. Can I take it in for warranty and have them replace the headlight and harness? I won't tell them I replaced the headlight or bulbs, I'll just say I noticed the light going on and off and it bouncing around so I checked and figured I would take it in. Do you think I'll have any problems getting everything fixed for free? Thanks!
is your clip on the bottom broken or bent and not clipping correctly? that will cause your headlights to bounce and the tabs to break.

yea the clip doesnt clip correctly for some reason and I cant seem to bend it into the right shape to hold securely. Even if i fixed that the headlight wire harness and plug is still screwed up and doesn't provide a solid connection.
Should i put oem bulbs in the headlights b4 i take the car in so it looks like i never even tampered with the headlight?
did you replace the housing because if so they may say the headlight isnt the original one and might say no to the warrenty

Mikey Mikey Mikey, for starters, if you broke it, man up and fix it yourself. DO NOT take it to a dealer and get it done under warranty. That is cheating the system and you will get caught. Second, you have aftermarket bulbs. Some aftermarket bulbs pull more wattage than the factory. Higher watts = heat = melting stuff = things not working. Or if they didn't have a good solid connection to start with, they could have arced and caused problems.

Just got back from the dealer, they fixed it all up for free. I put the stock bulbs in yesterday and took it to the dealer today. They replaced the wire harness for the right headlight assembly and put 4 larger bolts to hold the tabs, since the original holes had been stripped. I'm glad they didn't give me a problem, they prob see this a lot because it seems like a common thing for 03-05 cavalier headlight assemblies.
it is covereed under warrenty if you have bumper to bumper warrenty
