03-05 Cavalier Trunk . . .

Geez, this sucks. Alright, I have this "awesome" aluminum wing on my trunk. Or rather I should say I thought it was awesome, lol. Well, I got a new spoiler, my Supra wing that I wanted. Well, so far I've been to 3 bodyshops, and they are all telling me that to have my old wing taken off and the holes sealed and what not, that its going to cost me about $300-$350. Other people have suggested that I just get a new trunk and have the new wing put on that one cause it will only cost me about $50 to have it mounted. Well, my new problem, I can't find a new trunk. I called 2 junkyards and they told me they do have an 03-05 trunk, but not in black, and they want $300 for it. I think thats kinda insane, specially since a CF trunk goes for like $350 or so. I checked ebay and came up with nothing . . .

Any ides on where else to look, or if anyone is selling one, or something -_-

how about mounting the spoiler yourself, and just having them weld shut and repaint.

just mount and prefit it before you have them seal the old holes and paint it.

someone in your area should be able to help you out

Or how about you get an older black trunk lid so you can get rid of that stupid reflector across the back. Older ones are more plentiful and since your car is black its not gonna be hard to find one. Then just mount the thing yourself.

1 cf lids cost more than 350. 2 just get any 95+ lid thats black and save yourself the trouble. any shop could weld the holes closed for 50 bucks, its painting the lid which is gonna cost you

Well, I was planning on doing the RK Sport CF bezel with the chrome altezza lights. If your saying the 95-02 trunk is a direct bolt on, I think that'd save me money, lol. Cause frankly I like my trunk and my new spoiler, but its not worth spending $400+ to get it put on with no problems, lol.

You can still run the altezas but look at the price difference. The money to get your old holes filled, the trunk painted, the carbon fiber filler bezel, thats gotta be over $500.00.

get an old lid from a wrecked Cavy from a junk yard, Black never changed for GM so its the same color . Thats about $60.00 get one with NO SPOILER so you don't have anything to fill, no body work and no paint work. Now since those altezas were designed for the older cavs with no big ugly reflector you get to save on the carbon piece too.

The way I figure it I just saved you around $400.00. Cool huh ?

Just hit me up on p-mail so you'll know where to send my cut.

Well, here is another kick in the ass . . . I just called another junkyard looking for an 95-02 Cavalier trunk. No spoiler, etc. They tell me they don't have any black ones, and again, want $300 for a 95-02. I'm like WTF?! I could BUY an 95 cavalier for $300, LOL. I think I'm going to continue looking for junkyards, cause $300 for a trunk that isn't even black is just ridiculous to me.

Yea, thats the same problem I ran into. I checked Ebay and I only came up with CF trunks. They wanted with shipping about $450 for them. I don't want to do anything CF on the exterior of my car cause my goal is to keep the outside looking as stock as possible with the exception of rims, lights, etc. I was only looking at about $50-$100 myself as well, and once I heard $300, I'm like WTF!? its going to end up costing me the same to get mine fixed, as it will to get a new one, so I'm kinda at a loss of what to do.

Guys if you need one I can go see if they got any and get you one. You pay to ship and for the part and you should still come out ahead.

Which one are you talking about? I'm trying to think of the local yards in the area. I know there is 2 on Willow Springs Rd, I know of 1 in Summit and another near Blue Island. I already called one of them on Willow and the one near Blue Island? Are those the ones you are talking about?

Alright, time for a lil update . . .

I won that new trunk off Ebay. Its not painted, so I have to get that done and shops are telling me about $150 to do it. Does that sound right? With shipping, the trunk comes to $163, so its still half the amount junkyards wanted to charge me.

Well down here at Macco they charged $100.00 yo paint a new hood blue for a car I worked on about a month ago. I'd say call around you should be able to get it for $100.00 .
