I need a new rear windshield and have found a donor car how do I go about removing it? Do you use a heat gun? lol I have no idea....all I know is my sunfire is pretty smashed up right now any help would be greatly apreciated, also what is the best prpduct to use when sanding and filling holes and scratches? I already have a wealth of dents to deal with which is going to be hell in itself.

ok first off let a glass company remove the glass, second i can type out a long list on a "how to remove" dents but apperntly my "ole skool" ways are not good advice and i really can teach you online how to become a body fender man over night
so take it to a shop pay the money or send me the car and 5,000 bucks and we all will be happy lol

well I`m not going to a shop.....as they would report the damage to the police....I`m staying away from that route and fixing the car myself. I have most of the parts lined up which is quite the list, and im not concerned with changing the panels and fixing the dents, but I do need to remove the glass myself so any tips on this one.

body shops report it to the police? I figured they would just keep it in their records for their safety.. unless there is some sorta call by the police in ur area lookin for that car it might be the only reason they would report it.. never heard that body shops report their vehicles they do work on.. like big daddy said.. you cant learn body work on the internet.. there is quite a bit involved and technics that u can't just tell how over the internet.. the window is best left to the professionals..

I understand the basics.....and know I am not a professional but I have to do it myself anyways what I have heard for the windshield is spray pb blaster around the seal and use some sort of special wire around the edge to break through the seal....sounds easy enough to me, I am replacing the 1/4 panels, hood, and doors as well as front fender none of those things are too bad but I will have to deal with a few dents so I'm gonna do it the best I can then maco paint it and sell it. Any advice on repairing the dents? I`m not asking to know how to make it perfect just tips on filling a few scratches would be nice too thanks again.

So no one is gonna give me any atcutal tips? I may get some of the body work done but I`m going to do as much as i can myself before I do that.

For a dent grind the spot, put some filler on it, sand put some putty on it, sand and prime with a high build primer. Sand the primer and the panel then paint.
No clue on the glass.

ive had 5 quotes on my front driver corner hit between $1200-$2500 and when i tell them im paying they dont even ask about it being reported, on that note one GM dealer (out of 3) questioned the damage because there was a hit and run involving a pedesterian the night before. but the police notice sent out was for a four door.
good luck,

just take it to every shop in the area and get an estmate from each one then take the lowest one to the shop of your choice and ask if they will match it.

You are asking people for help .........they are giving you help by giving you advice on how to go about with your car. I work in a bodyshop and can do all the things that you want done but I can't tell you how to do them over the internet. Removing the rear window is alot harder than you think and will require about two people. When it comes to installing the window along with the quarters, doors, fenders and hood ....lining it up takes some experience as well. Don't get me wrong I am not flaming you or anything like that ...just take it to a place that knows how and everything will be done right and safely (especially if you are going to sell it after). And they will have all the proper tools for the job like a MIG welder for the quauters, urethane adhesive for the rear window, piano wire to remove it and all the others needed. I'm just trying to help you out and save time but maybe not money (sorry)....but like everyone says check out different places first.
