Well i searched and searched and i didn't find anything. I want to shave the key hole on the black plastic peice on the Sunfire trunk. Now, should i just lay fiberglass over the hole or use a backer and fill it with bondoglass?

You might just wanna fill it with epoxy, then smooth over it with your body filler.

yea my tech just said to put a backer on the hole, scuff the hell out of the hole then fill it with bondoglass then smooth with body filler

the right way is to make a whole new fiberglass piece. the filler you use needs something to anchor too, not just bond to.
so, im no familar with the trunk pieces so i dont know how thick it is, but you may be able to put small screws into the plastic in key places to help anchor your bondo lovelyness to the rest of the bezel. scuffing the plastic wont work real well, and also, the main problem is what he mentioned, without something to anchor to, the sucker will fall out. also, i would say to use epoxy, no bondo, fiberglass,or filler, it will not stick to that type of plastic.
if there is no way you can get a anchor to the piece you want to put in, spend the time and make your own piece, or heavily alter the stock one and make it strong...
where can i pick the epoxy up at?

you can use a rigid or semi rigid plastic repair adhesive, like 3m, fusor, or automix. The plastic repair materials are similar to epoxy you buy at a hardware store, but more specifically for autobody applications. Take the key hole and grind it out with 36grit. about 2 inches in each direction of the hole, then take the backing and put it on. next fill the hole with the plastic repair. Now you can feather edge your grinder marks to 180 grit and use the plastic repair as a body filler. sand it to 180 grit then high build primer, wetsand, primer sealer, paint, clear. adhesion promoter is also a good idea.
i looked and it seems the face of it comes of. Does it? if it does i will make a fiberglass face for it and make a custum light where the "Pontiac" is.

yea the filler peice comes off, i think there some like 6-8 10mm bolts ya gotta take off.
i mean the front of the filler plate. can it be removed or how did u make a new one for it?

Well this is how i did on it. My instructer told me and Garrented (sp?) me that if i use bondohair it will hold. Well just to prove him wrong or right i used it. So far it is holdin rather well. i even droped it once ( on accident) and it held in. On to pics...
Sorry there dark it was dark out by the time i got home. It needs to be wet sanded again then another coat of black then some clear. This is how i did it. I wet sanded it with 150 first then primer with high build, sanded with 150 then wet sanded with 800, then 2000, primer again with high build, wet sanded with 800 then 2000, and painted it thats as far as i got today. Tomorrow im goin to wet sand with 2000 then paint it then maybe clear if i have time in class. Whatcha all think so far??
