Wow, so i ordered a buddy club 2 kit from buddyclub2.com, yadda yadda, in my search for kits, i looked at so many websites, i thought i read the kit was urethane. When i got it today, it fiberglass. Im really bummed out cause i spent cash money on it.
i was reading how good urethane is, and thinking i was on the right side of things. Im going to keep it, but it looks like i have to be super careful now
anyways, i was looking at the sideskirts, and my dad said not to worry, because he really is an excellent body man, in all the aspects, but i just wanna give him an idea of how people put their sideskirts on......pictures?? any comments about WTF i should do now?
If your side skirts are anything like my Type-J's, they might not wrap around the bottom of the door like the stock ones--they just "hang" in open air. If that's the case, I had to use a good strong epoxy where they wrap onto the top of the door sill, and fabricate brackets for the bottom that go from the skirt to the underside of the car. In addition to being screwed in at the wheel wells front and back, you should be good.
i know someone i think crazy cavi girl or whatever her name is just mounted it on the front and back like the stock ones and that held it in place.
well the first thing that should of tipped you off is the price. if your getting a brand new urethane kit for under 700 bucks after shipping then you know its fiberglass. as for the sides, all you need is a few screws in the wheel wells and if you want a couple flat head screws in the door sill
sounds easy. I thought 700 for a kit was good, urethane is 1000+ ? around there? Im just curious on what will crack a fiberglass peice. If i scrape off the ground a little, is it going to break?
depends how hard you hit. if you tap a curb at like 3 mph, more than likely it will crack. if you scrape off the ground, probably not. it will probably put stress cracks in the bottom of the bumper but thats all. your gonna have a hard time w/ the rear. i would never use that rear, its way too low. thats going to be the first thing you break
i Have mine on the car and have driven it arround unpainted just to test the "lowness" and durrability of the kit. I have come down on the sides pretty hard on a big speed bump and to my surprise i haven't damaged them at all. I really dont have a problem with the whole ground clearance thing either and i'm almost slamed on my Pro-Streets with 18's.
But as far as the mounting of the sides i epoxed the hell out of the door sill and molded it, screws in the wheel wells, and made the braces underneeth that Omega mentioned earlier.
Good Luck!
ya, the rear may be a problm, but ill be avoiding any such hill that i can. i really take the long way around anyways so i dont screw up my front end. how low do you think the front will sit? Im not tucking my front wheels, you can kinda see from the picture in my profile, i put the oem lip on the front too, so i dunno, do you think ill be any loweR?
I honestly think people on here are to careful of fiberglass I drag my blitz front i had all the time and never cracked it. The only time it cracked is when some guy ran in to it in a parking lot
im having mixed signals! haha. i wanna go kick my bodykit to see if it cracks!
haha, i feel like it though! i paid 720 for something i could have bought on ebay. I think thats b+s= bull@!#$..........o well. I just wanna see some pics of cars with them on it, i def searched, and i found alot, i just cant wait to get it on...my luck ill hit another deer.....and shatter my bumper like an eggshell.
No you didn't pay 720 for something you could have bought on EBAY. You and i both got the real kits with "Guaranteed" fittment and much more durrability and a better product. My kit has fit with no modification so far and is durable as hell. I can kick the rear bumper and nothing happens., well except people look at me wierd( but that happens anyway) You did the right thing by buying the real kit not a knockoff. If nothing else you helped support a comany who makes cool stuff for us.

you could buy a carbon fiber splitter and attach it on the bottom of the front bumper. that way if you do happen to scrape you will have less of a chance of messing something up on the bumper. just dont go smashing the front into the ground and you'll be fine
i am buying baggedcav's cf splitter, my concern is this though:
if i do scrape the ground, with the splitter, will it push those two rods right through the fiberglass? or crack it?

not really if you scrape but if you hit the front into the ground they would cause damage. but its fiberglass so it can be repaired.
If your pop is such a good body guy-- Maybe he can add some fiberglass to the back of the skirts and bumpers to make them a little stronger.... ?
ya, we plan on doing it, at least filling them in with something, but we discussed that.

were not quite sure if it will have enough benefitial effects to do it......anyone have any input??

pretty much any glass you can add will have a beneficial effect. it will make them stronger and thicker so less chance of cracking
nice, sounds cool. im gonnna pour cememt into that b!tch ahaah
just make sure to predrill it before you just put the screws in it or it will crack there too. we just screwed them into the fender wells and then I put four screws in the jambs. they are molded to the car now and the screws are gone.
as for the rear, yes it sits low, but that's about to change too.
good luck with it.

how are you changing the lowness of the rear?
Technically speaking, we're not. We're getting rid of it. But if you wanted to and you had the time, you could always just do what Frank the Tank did. He cut a section out of the rear and molded it back together so that it didn't sit as low. Here's a pic of my bumper (on the left) backed up to his.

well as to how easy it cracks... i picked mine up from some guy in a junkyard... for $400 for all four pieces... about a week later THOUGHT i could go up this driveway.. and made a nice crack almost all the way through the fiberglass... BE VERY CAREFUL!!! learn from my mistakes (I Tend To Make Alot Of Them)
