ok i got a few questions about the doors first i know there is now way to really determin which is the best kit but if i can get opinons on kits you have had then i can jugde it, first question what you like better the 45 daqgree door or the 90 dagree doors which kit and why do you like or dislike,
next which kit is the most direct bolt on, in terms of less fabing everyting, quality of struts customer service of supplier and over all movment of door smooth, jerky motion, does it swing out 6" first then up and so on ,
any thing would be helpful
My kit is from Speedway Performance. It is the only kit that I have seen that approaches 90 degrees. The quality of the kit is untouchable. The metal and struts they use make you totally comfortable with having a door that goes up that far. I have had mine on since early 04 and have not had an issue post-install. There is some drilling and such needed in order to get them on, but if it isn't worth a little work, then it isn't worth doing.
The cost is higher than ANY of the 45 degree kits, but that's EXACTLY why my car stands out against the millions of 45 degree kits at shows... Just my $0.02, but you can talk to Pete at Speedway by going
here...
how hard is it to clse the doors when are you seated ???
i prefer the 45 myself. the 45 can be easier while in the car where the 90 are out futher so you have to reach futher.
the doors will be a little hard to close sitting down at 1st since its a new shock, but give it time and the driver side will ease up a bit then the passenger side futher down the road(driver side being used more).
the install on this kit was moreless a direct bolt-on. i grinded the hinge a bit to allow it to come down some more. the install is the easiest part, its the getting it lined up that usually will take more time.
you can start lifting the door as you open it out. the door will open normal to about the 1st stoping point if you were to open your door now, as is.
MMS-joes group purchase ones $500
Ive got the Speedway kit(well 1 hinge, my pass door is suicide) like RHDCavfire. 45 is fine if you like ducking to get out of your car or you like hitting your head.
Im actually gonna be replacing my strut with an acuator so the door goes up on its own with the push of a button.
As for fitting, I had to use a die grinder to elongate the slots for the door bolts since the hinge didnt slide forward enuf, but my car was also hit on the front drivers side and fixed so the unibody was pulled.
i actually liked my 45's better than the 90's based on looks alone... functionality... hands down the 90 degrees.
and btw, through autoloc you can now get 130's
cool thanks, i have been thinking of the 90 ones cause i am 6ft and ducking under the door ever day seems like a bithc especaially on those days i am in and out fo the car like 20 times i know the have the kit to auto open them but is there anything yet that closes them to
