x 20000000

That and there is no such thing as a legal HID kit, These kits are flat out dangerous. I have said it once and will say 10000 times more, putting a HID bulb into a halogen housing is dangerous to other drivers.

The beam was intended to be reflected a special way thus the DOT approval on your stock headlights, putting HID bulbs in messes with that reflection pattern and can blind other drivers.

If you are gonna do HIDs do them right with OEM materials and put in projectors enough said

thats good to hear, i would spend the extra money and get the OEM kit just heard lots of horror stories with offname kits and sites. Plus its nice to have the ignitor/ballast in the same box and not 2 seperate ones

what about this idea in a stock housing ?

I dont really wanna draw out a diagram of how the optics would work, but basically the stock reflector housing focuses the beam for its normal pattern, altho it basically just condenses the light so it goes forward.

If you look at projectors they focus it even more, giving the light output a much brighter appearance because its concentrated to a 2 or 3 inch area. That is designed to focus the beam and then the shield makes the upper cutoff as seen in this pic.

Even in this pic you can see the cutoff which is designed to have the drivers side lower than the passenger side so you still light up road signs, and dont blind the other drivers.

Doing that to a stock reflector would probably cut out more than 1/2 the light output, and that light it does put out would be less intense than normal.

Projectors + H.I.Ds = PROPER

H.I.Ds + Reflective housing = DANGEROUS.

It isnt hard to do a retrofit. Im currently in the process of doing one...

If you want the true light power of h.i.d you will only get it with projectors. And they dont cost an arm and a leg. Bosch Single Xenon projectors (E46) can be had for about 100 bucks....
