What do you guys use on your carbon fiber hoods etc. that have only a UV coat on them? I know you can't use a car wax. The guy who i bought them from is going to send me what he used eventually but i am itching to get them on my car but i don't want to do it untill they are all cleaned and ready to go. I have been told to look at Meguairs Polish or somthing. But everywhere i got and ask for some help, no one knows or they just don't have stuff for them. If you could list what you use and the exact name, it would be very appreciated.

Just wash em' as if they were any other car part. I believe I waxed mine even a few times this year....I use all Meguires products.
so you think even with the UV protectant on it Meguires Tech wax would be alright for it?

i was told by who i ordered mine from and the body shop that did my paint work, that treat it like any other painted panel, wash, wax, and what not... please enlighten me if they were incorrect here....

i wax mine with Meguires wax too
this is gone over all the time..... option 1 and the best option... get it clear coated and treated it like the rest of the car. option 2 don't get it clear coated and still treat it like the rest of the car.
heres a pic before I painted the hood so it was just the UV coat, no clear coat.......
obviously I waxed the @!#$ out of the whole car.... if you feel the need to do the same go right ahead its not gonna hurt anything..... I waxed the entire car like crazzy hood and all plus left it on for winter and this is what it looked like in the spring after waxing it even more.......
obviously waxing it didnd't hurt the finish or cause it cloud up or any other wierd things. and here the shine with clear coat..... looks almost the same as without the clear...
just take care of yor stuff and it will be fine.... and by take care of it I mean last winter the car washed twiced a week and waxed at least before every snowfall.

I used Meguires Tech wax on some of my c/f...dosent hurt anything.
I would love to get the fenders and hood clear coated, but the 2 body shops i went to said they would have to rough up the UV coat in order to make the clear coat stick with atleast 1000 grit and those marks may show through as swirls underneath the clear coat. But Darkstars dosn't appear to have such problems....

I use Megiars NXT GEN Detailer.
I use the the Meguires NXT products...I wont buy anything but Meguires!
aperently I'm the odd man out... I ONLY use Mothers.... start with the a car wash, then clay bar, then pre cleaner wax, then the swirl mark/sctratch remover, then the stage 2 wax, then the stage 3 wax twice. All mothers California Gold. Time consuming yet but worth it as you can see in the pics
I treat ALL of my carbon fiber panels just like any other body panel. been doing it for 2 years, no problems yet...
so would you all reccomend getting it clear coated or just the UV coating it comes with will be fine?

clear coat if you can, if not its not the end of the world, as long as you get something quality (like VIS ect..) you shouldn't have a problem

I thought cf hoods came clearcoated like the paint on our cars from the factory; so its a uv gel coating on the cf hoods?
So without a clearcoat; just wax the hood a few times a year and she will be okay?
How often should you put a coat of wax on the cf hood?

it is a UV gel coat on the CF, I've *HEARD* that some come clear coated as well, thats something you'd have to ask the manufactuer.
as for how often.... liek 20 of the above posts just said treat it liek you do the rest of the car.... the way I see it you either take care of the CAR (not just the hood) or you don't. If you take care of the car you should fine
