I was just wondering if anyone has ever ordered a body kit off eBay and what kind of experience they had. I never thought of ordering one off eBay before but just for giggles I did a search and found quite a few. They appear to be the same kits that you find on any other site but for half the cost. Just wanted some opinions.

"you get what you pay for"
this is a classic example of that. typically (not always), it's very low quality. they're cheap junk, which is why they can be sold for so little. personally, unless you like doing a lot of work to get your body kit to fit right and hold up, you'd be better off getting a kit from an actual reputable business.
True, I was just looking for some opinions. I had picked up some fiberglass body parts for the Laser on eBay and I haven't had any trouble, so I figured maybe. But anyway I was actually looking for Z24 bumpers and skirts, and I typed body kit in the criteria and those all popped up. What I really want is the Z24 OE style stuff, and I managed to find front bumpers but no rear bumpers and the side skirts I found were used and I don't trust buying from a private seller. I had already been to the dealership and they wanted outrageous prices, so I tried eBay.

I personly would not order a kit of ebay unless it was a jbo member selling it
PaCavalier
Even if it was a JBO member I still might not do it. I'd get something from a company but not a private seller.

price on the kit itself may be low but they usualy rape you on shipping..and like thye said get what you pay for

I figured as much, but what do yall think about the OE stuff on eBay? There were a few pieces I found for around 120 or so for everything including shipping, which was still than the quote from the dealership. I really would like to have the Z24 stuff. Personally I think Z24 factory bumpers and skirts look better than the aftermarket body kits. Just my opinion. I went to the salvage yard to look but I didn't find any good stuff. Everything was all bashed up from either being wrecked or tossed around at the yard.

The original kit was probably made from a master mold, then these knock off companies (even most of the ones bought from "online stores" are actually copies of the original) buy one produced from the "master" and then they produce a mold from that kit, and then they can mass produce a close copy of a copy.
Sometimes this works out ok, other times they have to make them too thin in areas to actually even fit the vehicle...
I have an actual case of it not fitting, I bought a BMX kit from aerodesigns (ebay company), I spent around $350 total w/ shipping the kit fit great and had very minimal prep work needed to fit correctly, then I had a friend that bought a actual BMX kit from a online store (not posting the online store name), the kit had no BOMEX tag on the inside of any piece, so that tells me it was a knock off also, yet they had plastered all over the web site they only carried true BOMEX made kits.
His kit took about $350 extra to get it to fit right and to reinforce the very thin areas of the kit, plus he spent $900 + shipping for his.
If you are looking for a new kit, i suggest getting a urethane kit.
If you can't afford a "nonfiberglass" kit, save up until you can.
Just my personal 2% of a dollar.
Johnathan, if you want OEM replacement parts, go to
http://www.car-parts.com and search salvage yards. sometimes you can get a hell of a deal on stuff, and you can find any part you need. once you find a salvage yard that has what you need, either e-mail them or call them and arrange payment/shipping/pickup. it's a lot cheaper than buying OEM parts through a dealership, and there's a lot of parts that are still in near perfect condition.
Thanks, Cannon. So I'm guessing these are off of wrecked cars. I don't suppose they'd sell parts that wre messed up. But I went to the salvage yard here the guy was like "Sure, there's a Z24 out back, take a look and let me know what you want." Yeah. Bad idea.

I bought from them too, and mine didnt fit well at all.
JBOK.org loves you
I got my kit off ebay the only problem i had was with my front bumper but it turned out to be that a body shop i had do it just were stupid people lol my kit was a good price and i can't complain about fitment because the sides and rear fit great the front needed some sanding that was it
I've concluded it's a gamble. You might get decent parts, you might get hosed. I dunno, I'm undecided about it but that site Cannon told me to check out, that's the way I'm goin for now. All I'm really after is Z24 OE parts, but the other kits were kind of tempting, especially the Drift kit. My buddy has that on his old Supra and it's pretty nice.

i used it to locate a front bumper cover for a 03-05 LS sport, there hard to come by here. but they did have pics of the car it was pulled off and a description of the damage to the cover (a 1in scratch) i had them e mail me more pics of just the cover, and sure enough when i picked it up it was exactly as described and looked in the pictures. i thought it was a great site to use i would have been on the phone for hours looking for one. and never would have driven 100km to pick it up if id never seen pics
hope this helps you some.
