ive got a 98 z24, black, no kit yet and i was thinking about masking the tails and painting them body color so they look kinda like cobalt tails and i was just wondering if this would look like @!#$?

if done right it looks good. There are several 03+ that did that and it looks good. I had 02 tails painted black around the holes and it looked good.

On your black car....yeah I think it would look pretty decent. I'd like to see it done
with a set of 00+ Toyota tails.
would look good and compliment the car well, only if it's done neat and clean,as with anything else one might do to a car. so hop to it

mine done with black spraypaint. i like it but they are pretty dark
they look pretty decent i got em on my 97.
I got the actual covers tho and painted them
well i shaded them. looks pretty good. i like em, ill post pics when i get them developed.

i say leave them. to me doing things like nite shade (on a black car) or even painting them the body color and leaving little circles looks like a cheap shave job.
