well i was lookign at my hood pins and im atartign to wonder how the hell i get those things lined up through the hood and alll that..so basically any tps tricks or any of that?? phil
put the pins where you want them under the hood. (if you remove the bump stops, thats a good place to put the pins) and then basically mark where it hits the hood where you close, tape the area to prevent cracking and use a small drill bit to start and just work your way up
hmm sounds easy enough..thanks alot...phil
My cardomain has pics of what the hoodpins in my carbon fiber hood look like. The pin is mounted to this brace near the radiator, just drilled holes and used a nut to hold them on. Most people dont' seem to like the way mine look near the center of the hood though.

thats where mine are, there are 2 bump stops in the middle and thats where my pins are
well i rather have them out to the sides, for the reason that this is why i am getting pins in the first place. having them in the middle is better than nothing but you still risk cracking the hood from flex.... but the reason i am bringing this post back is i was wondering if anyone had any good ideas on how to mark were the pin contacts the hood at? thanks....

i used toothpaste...you could use powder, gel, etc
I highly recommend a dremmel instead of a drill. It spins faster and makes for a cleaner cut with less of a chance of chipping.

Would have never thought of that. Oh well. Hopefully the pins I have in the garage will go on Orange Type J. Still waiting to hear from insurance.
hey just wanted to add somthing to this, well more like ask a question... The question is this - - - - - On Jesse D's car i was looking at his car domain site, becuase i wondered the same thing on the hood pins, BUT on the one picture the last one, bottem right i see 3 small screws ( could be mistaken ) but are those screwed into the hood to hold the locking mechanisim secure to the hood or am i wrong?

5 seconds to find another street...
I squirted some tooth paste on top of my pins, then set the hood down, and drilled where the paste was....
