wanting to paint them so they match the rest of the car. ( can't afford a kit at this moment in time ). for those of you with them and/or have seen 'em up close, you know there's a texture to 'em. i started sanding them and have to admit, it's turning out pretty good...so far. tried taking pics for a before and after, but can't get a good shot showing the difference. hoping to get a gun, don't wanna use cans, also don't have a garage or good place to paint. suggestions?
pay someone who paints for a job?
yea i suggest getting different bumpers cuz the paint will crack and chip off those bumpers
i also suggest getting different bumpers it can be done but trying to get the factory texure off will take allot of sanding with 80 then 120 then 240 to get rid of all the D.A.`D plastic
it will take allot of a high build flexable primer to get rid of the fuzzies left by the sand paper
so in closing get a new bumper better off
can i haz bondo
yeah, you can find the stock ones really cheap at a local junkyard or even ebay. I've seen people try to paint those stupid grey bumpers, but they always tend to chip and flake
well, if others have tried and had problems, guess there's no point in continuing. if i can find some bumpers that aren't damaged at the junkyard i would get them. the one set i saw that weren't, somebody was already taking them off. i'll keep looking. thanks.
Getting rid of the plastic bumpers is #1 on my exterior to-do list! I just need to find the time to get to a junkyard and look around.
the paint wont chip off those bumpers, not if you do them correctley, it all depends in the way the body shop preps them. Your decision though.

Your profile doesn't say your location... doubt it's anywhere near west ky though
i'd be happy w/ Z bumpers for now. how much you want for them? if your somewhat near, i can swing by and pick 'em up myself.
if i can't find any at the junkyard i was just gonna sand the crap out of them slap a thin coat of bondo and paint away.
another quick question about the bumpers. would the rear bumper from a 4 door sunfire fit a 2 door cavalier? i got a wing off a 4 door sunfire at a junkyard and it fits perfectly on my trunk. so obviously the trunks are the same, or close to it. and i'm thinking, if the trunks are the same, the rear panels should be roughly the same. if so, shouldn't the rear bumper line up? or is it a matter of how they bolt on? just curious
i have stock 03 front and rear for sell
