cavalier hoodlatch

I just looked through the front end swap FAQ, it doesnt say that you need a hood latch from a cavalier to do the swap, im swapping 99 sunfire to 99 cavalier, i put on the cav hood, and it doesnt close properly, it stops on the strut towers, do i need to get a cavalier hoodlatch, or should i just move up the sunfire hoodlatch, or just cutoff the screws in the strut towers so that the hood doesnt rest on them?
Thanks

well that would mean your hoods not aligned properally. both latches are exactly the same (i think).

the part tab you lift to release the hood is shaped different bewteen to sunfire and the cav. the sunfire has PONT stamped in the front and the cavalier is stamped CHEV. dont know why it would hit the strut tower cause i think the hinges are the same.

so its not the hoodlatch?, the tab should have no effect on the fitment of the hood...?

Yeah if it is hitting the strut towers that is a problem with the hinges at the top allowing the hood to drop too far down... Check them out...

k... ive adjusted all the hinges like 10x each, and the hood still doesnt line up properly... it doesnt rub the strut towers now... but it wont sink into the latch.. the cars always been a bitch to get into the latch... but with a fiberglass hood there isnt weight to help it in there anymore... so am i not pushin enough on the hood to get it to sink in, or is it not lined up well enough to sink into the latch now?>
