I think a 10 gallon is the smallest I'd use for small body panels and small repairs.

Yea go 10, if you run out of air mid shot, thats going to make for some nasty looking paint.

i've got a 15 gallon one and wish i would have gotten at least a 33 gallon one now, the compressor runs all the time with the 15. so i have to stop and let the air build back up sometimes.

Or... if you think down the road you may try painting larger things, or a whole car, get a 55-60 gallon air compressor with a continuous type feed. (i.e. when the air level in the tank starts getting low, it automatically kicks on to keep you from running out of air).

that's the way mine is ^^. it's 150 psi max, and when it gets down to about 120 psi it kicks on.

I don't use it for painting but I bought a compressor for home not long ago. I had to get somehtign small and portable so I got an 8 gallon.... that was a mistake, any type of continuous flow tools (sanders, cut off wheels, air saw, die grinder, ect...) it just can't keep up with, with thse tools it runs constantly all the time and can't keep up even when running non stop, its got about 30 seconds of work then wait a minuet for it to fill. It works fine for my impact guns and stuff but anythign thta flows air constantly I would rcomend at least a 20 gallon
