How To Prep A Body For Paint?

Well now that the car is 90% shaved, and hopefully new bumpers will be in shortley and molded, how does one go about getting a body ready for paint. Currently its a mix of silver and primer, and im goign to be painting it black.
I purchased a compressor and a moisture trap and will be picking up a gun soon, but first i want to prep the body 100%.
I assume i just sand evyerthing down with about 400 grit sand paper and hit with primer, then sand, primer, sand primer, sand, then paint,

Is there anythign else to this, there has to be lol. Thank you in advance.

there are so many steps in preping a car for paint
like 1st i hope the car would be disassembled to do a color change the right way
personally i would dry block with 120, re prime then wet sand with 320 400 then 600 then 1000 to re move any marks left by the other grits

use a red scuff pad to get any shinny spots missed by the sand paper, washing the car after being wet sanded, keeping the panles clean insure a clean paint job

a little tip kinda do one panle at a time, block alittle blow it off wet the panle with a wax and grease remover to see any imperfections and also use a guide coat when blocking

i could go on and on and on but its really hard to explain such a teadious task online

can i haz bondo
