Polishing a AEM Intake to remove nasty knicks?
Saturday, April 22, 2006 10:27 AM
Ok first off, im bored sitting here at work and this just came into my head. I got a AEM intake for free and its knicked up in certain areas. Now i was wondering if its possible to just buff out and then polish to get rid or hide most of those lil knicks. I want to keep the same polished finish it came with or make it even more shiny if possible. Or should i start with like a 800 grit and work up to 2000grit sanding then buff and polish? Just lookin for some suggestions.. i would give ya some pics but my mom has the cam till monday. Got a car show soon so i want this thing shinin perty.

Just work it like you are polishing a valve cover.

so sand in stages and work my way up to a high grit? then would i buff and polish it?

cuz on my IDI cover i just took a dremel with the grinder bit and did it that way and took some 1000 sand paper and sanded it down some.

The intake is more polished now than the IDI cover was when you began. Try 1500 then 2000 then wet 2000 then buff.
