Convertible Tonneau Cover
Monday, May 01, 2006 7:53 AM
Hello J-body,

Wondering if anyone is interested in a Convertible Tonneau for thier cavaliers.
I am currently developing a fiberglass tonneau to cover over the back seats.
The tonneau thus far lines up with all stock equipment as far as "bolting in" is concerned. I am wondering if there would be any interest in a product like this.

Would anyone be interested in purchasing such an item?

If there is enough interest in the product I may make a product line if not than it'll become a one off.
If anyone is interested leave a message on this topic.

thanks

A tonneau is basically a fiberglass cover that goes over the convertible top (when it's down) and this one will extend just past the rear seats, essentially making your car a two seater. (of course the tonneau is removeable).

If you look at the Pontiac solstice or the Corvettes, they have a hard cover for thier convertible tops, this fiberglass tonneau is the same idea.

Those pictures are exactly what I am working on right now.
More qlong the lines of the celica tonneau.
It's going to cover the back seat as well as the convertible top.
If anyone would like I can probably make it in two parts.
One piece to cover the back seat and then another to cover the top.

I just thought since no one had one on the market andI really wanted one someone
else might. I have the resources to make em so hey, if I can do someone a favour by
making one at a decent price I will do my damndest. I will get back to you guys when I
get a little further in the build and have some pictures for you with a half ass idea of what
the finished product will look like.

I'll put up another post after teh weekend
hopefully I'll be in the garage most of it.

thansk guys

Yeah, he hasn't posted in 30 days so I'm doubtful he'll be checking back for this post. Guess I'll just have to plan on making my own.

I'd probably buy one if they weren't too expensive and the looked like the Celica cover shown on the other thread.

Well, if Gary ever starts making them to sell I might be in but he removed his backseat completely so more than likely I'd have to make my own unless I remove the backseat. It all depends on whether or not I'll be using my car exclusively or if I can use my fiancee's when I go shopping and stuff. Here's a couple pics of his from the last time I saw Gary, it looks so much better in person.
