I know this has probably been asked before but all my searches turned up nothing. I want to light up those two lenses on either side of the license plate on my 01 SF. There are places for the sockets to go but there's no way for light to shine through the lenses. What's up with that?
Actually, its not that bad...
Get a panel from a junk yard that has the sockets and bulbs. Run 4 wires from the bumper mounted reverse lights (2 for power, 2 for ground) to the driver's side of the car. There's a rubber grommet there where the side marker wire harness goes through. Run the wires through there, along the drivers side of the trunk, through the black plastic clips on the trunk hinge, over to the reverse lights... splice and enjoy
Or, you can do as I did and put a red bulb in, and run a tap from the third brake light (optional: and another from the parking light at the tail). Ground them at the third brake ground wire, or another suitable ground location.
I have a 99 rear finish panel I'm going to sell if your interested
