Can anyone tell me where the motor is for 1999 Z24 Convertible? Sometimes mine top works and sometimes not. Or I may get it down and then it won't come up or maybe it's up and won't go down. Any suggestions would be helpful.
most motors are under the hood
1996 Chevrolet Cavalier SOLD | 2002 BMW 330i SOLD | 2004 BMW 645i
is that the same motor the powers the convertible top?

There's two motors... one on either side, behind the quarter panels. They are electrically linked (I can't remember if it's series or parallel though). The bypass switch in the trunk disconnects them.
I've seen them pretty cheap on Ebay... and readily available.
an engine runs off of combustion and a motor runs off electricity so no there not the same and motor vehicle refers to the inventor of the original automobile.
Holy @!#$ you bumped a thread nearly two months old just to say that!
Engines use fuel to combust and do work. Motors use electricity. Wonder what happened to the OP, hasn't posted since this thread. 1913 birthday wow if that's true.
