Removed the side mouldings. Need help
Tuesday, June 06, 2006 2:45 PM
As the subject line says, I just removed the side mouldings but I got a surprise. On the passengers side when I removed the door section a portion of the paint is discolored a grey black. I think water must have settled behind the moulding. Any suggestion on how to correct the damage short of having the door repainted. Maybe just waiting a week or two and see if it fades a bit. I don't know what the best route to take is.

your door would prolly be better off being repainted because just think you will prolly start having problems with it fading that way when ever it gets wet cuz i know that happened to my boys truck and he went and talked to a guy from the body shop and he said that but its always possible the guy was lieing to make more money for his company

Is it just dirt/adhesive build up or actual paint coming off?

When I took off my side moldings I used some adhesive remover to get the excess adhesive off....

get all the glue off and give the car a good wash and wax. if its still there, then you might have to get it painted.

Maybe I could get a graphic done to go on the side! The car is yellow, 2 door with black Razzi side skirts. Any one want to design something for me, lol. If some one know of a graphics shop in Durham region, Ontario Canada please let me know.

Found a shop in Oshawa. 3M trim. The guy I talked to showed me a solid black 8 foot long graphic for $250 cdn installed. looks interesting. Has anyone else had a large grapgic put on their car?

hiding @!#$ ups with stickers??? dont be that guy! you're off to a good start dont riun it by doing that.
try bug and tar remover, or turtle wax rubbing compound. and i wouldn't do the graphic thing. if
you want that look get it painted on. little more expensive but you'll be alot happier with the end result.

Wash that area with a little powder Comet cleaner on your finger with a dab of water to form a paste, dont get too carried away though, just enough to get the marks off. you can put on a good wax to top it off.

I think I am just going to put them back on. A lot cheaper than painting or a graphic.
