yes all u have to do is get some sand paper and the vt nightshade spray paint and some clear coat is how my friend did it on his stratus.

he did a double coat to make them really dark.

i use about 4 coats of vht nightshades on my 00 cavy tails, with some wetsanding btwn coats then a final coat of clear, they are almost body color now at night, and they def look darker in the day, but u can still see the light thru em

go hit up a hobby store and ask for model car tint spray, its like 4bux a can and works well. Ive used it several times and never had a problem with it, then just hit it with some automotive clear and youll be set...

heres a few pics of clear outers tinted, and they look blueish/purple because of the reflection through the lense

How does tint stay on your windows?

There is no glue, you use either soapy water or baby oil to keep it to your windows, works the same on plastic.

yeah. but window tint doesnt have to put up with being outside in the rain and being weathered. it will eventually peel off the plasic outside. its beeter and cheaper to just use VHT

There is glue. You use water and baby shampoo to activate it and it also helps you move the tint on the glass while you work with it. And it will melt the plastic of the taillights.

Sorry for the big pic, i resized it and still came out huge. My bad.

However, the black strips looking things are 10% limo tint with silver pinstrip on top. Why did i just not paint that on? Well where i live, if i hit the brakes all of the original taillight must light up, or ill get a $250 ticket. And paint doesnt fair so well living my the water.

I tinted the tail lights on My cavalier and They look Really good. There is about 4 coats on them, With the lights off they look Black. When the lights are on they light up pretty good. Ive been stopped for speeding, and they havent said anything about my tail lights so Im sure they are still OK.

I used about 3 really fine coats of niteshades followed by 2 wet coats an it came out really nice on my black 03 Cav (i also shaved the fugly silver emblem strip) I left the main brake liths circles red and the rest is almost completely black and ive never been hassled

what grit did you use to sand with?

Re: tinting the tails?

well i tested with 400 grit on my old tail lights and that might be a little too rough since you're only doing light coats. i might just give it a go without sanding and see what happens

Yes I can get some more pics of my tails. I sanded them down first and removed alll the lettering from them. Make sure the lights sit flat, the tint spray will run, I had to redo my innter lights twice because of runs in them. After you have your desired tint level, clearcoat them after. And then wet sand and polish them, The more time spent here the better I'd say. Mine are nice and smooth, but could use even more polishing. Ill post some more pics in the next couple of days.
