Bodykit securing
Monday, June 12, 2006 4:09 PM
My car came with a Bomex front and sides, and a Drift rear.

The front is held on by a total of four bolts, two on each side by the fender. Where are the other points where it should be bolted down?

The rear was held in by two bolts in the fenders, and it was sagging in the rear off of the hooks that were there... Where else should it be secured? I just put a screw through the center behind the license plate into some metal support or something. I would rather do it right, the back is nice and secure, but the front is floppy.

well if you wanna do it right, thats not right.

for the front bumper there should be 2 screws behind each corner light. 2 or 3 screws in each wheel well and 4 push pins between the headlights.

for the rear there such be 2 bolts on each side behind the carpet in the trunk, and then some screws in the wheel well. where you have the screw now in the middle does nothing

Ok thanks, I noticed some holes in the trunk I figured something was supposed to be there but I wasn't 100%

And no, the screw in the rear does a lot actually... It doesn't sag down anymore. I realize it's not the right way to fix it, though.

the right way to fix your sag is w/ L brackets

There was L brackets, it was barely on the edge of those brackets when I saw it before it was mine, then after it was at my house, the back bumper was BELOW the L brackets. They are all there, they just aren't supporting the bumper, I don't think it was attatched properly.

from what it sounds like, you need to take the bumper off so you can set it on top of the L-brackets, and as was mentioned earlier, put some screws in the wheel well where they are suppose to go to help support the back bumper as well as the ones in the trunk. I'm thinking with the bumper sitting on top of the L-brackets instead of underneath them, you will not need the screws that you put in by the license plate or where-ever... hope this helps some...

Alright, I'll take it off tomorrow and we'll see what I find.

Ok, got the rear one fixed, still sags though... It's above the L brackets and if it sits on the brackets then there is a gap between the trunk lid and the bumper... I'll move the L brackets up more some day.

I took off the front just minutes ago, and yea, there is still only 4 bolts holding the bumper on, two in each fender. There is no more holes in the bumper or in the bumper underneath... Where is it supposed to be held on? The only area I can think of is inbetween the headlights.

you probally have to drill some holes if there not already there there should be four holes inbetween the headlights and if you already have the four connected to the fender then you might need to go to home depot and get some metal strips and put more support on the bottom underneath the bumber

how loose is the front bumber

It's very loose. I can move it up and down with my hand, and I know it's not supposed to be like that.

Anyone have some pictures of what it's supposed to look like inbetween the headlights?

Also does anyone have a pic of the underside of the Drift rear? Mines broken badly and I'm going to repair it.

Depending on the year, there should also be some sort of clips or bolts (four of them) above the front bumper right in front of the engine compartment. This is usually covered by a plastic flap.

It's a 96. I don't recall seeing any, but I'll check again tomorrow probably, I have to take the front bumper off again it's not lining up right.

4 push pins go between the headlights. when you take the rad cover off you should see the 4 tabs on your bumper
