So I masked off the lights today and just want to make sure I didn't miss anything that has to be masked off.

The main thing I am talking about is that I am painting the bottom half of the lights and there are two different types of ribbed sections. I left them both unmasked to be painted. Is that fine or does that first ribbed layer also need to be taped off (the one closest to where everything is masked off.... on the bottom)

Also the silver bulb cover thing. Can I paint that black as well on the outside since it doesn't have anything to do with the light output? or would it look bad? It's the piece on the bottom of the pic for those who are wondering what I am talking about.

Thats fine just the way you masked it off. I did the same thing with mine and the light output wasn't affected at all. I would suggest leaving the silver bulb alone and not painting it, which is what I did.

I've also read of someone taking it off compeltely. Anyone know how the light output was without it

painting the outside of it wouldnt effect the light output, but id be afraid of the paint melting from heat off the bulb. thats why i didnt paint it on mine.

Use header paint on the reflector piece

I think that painting the bottom part would effect lighting in a huge way. I had to look close for a minute to see which part isn't painted because of the reflection. Id be weary of painting it

painting the bottom shouldn't affect the light. also, be careful when pulling off that tape to not peel off some of the chrome.
