Home made body kits

Has anybody here ever made any out of fiberglass? This idea dawned on me lately if it would be hard or easy. Also what are some good websites for part for a 2002 Sunfire Coup.

it would be hard. for someone who, seems to have almost no experience, judgeing by a blank profile, and i dont see you post much, i would say it would be very hard, it can be done, your best bet is to modify an existing glass kit. rather than make your own. Hope that helps! Check out the search, this topic comes up once a week.

It is very hard/time consuming. Especially if you have no experience.

^^ yep. its not so much as being able to fiberglass.. as to make it look good, look even, and keep it all the same size across..

me and a buddy of mine both attempted to make a kit for his Talon turbo and it was hard makin both sides even makin it from scratch. took alot of work and when we finally got it done it didnt turn out like we though.. So we ended up only making a lip kit that bolted onto his stock bumpers.. turned out great so maybe look into maybe just making a lip or get a bumper that you can use as a guide/mold.

But if u have no body work or fiberglass experience then don't plan for this to be your first try and it turn out perfect..

its hard, but if you get a 96-00 civic body kit, and modify it for your cavi, it'll work, its time consuming, but aint that much compared to making it from scratch!!!

If you really want to do this, I have a few suggestions.

1. Pick up a few bodywork/fiberglass books off Amazon and read up.
2. Practice fiberglassin some different things. Fiberglassin isn;t hard, but you will spend a lot of time sanding. Check out the sticky I wrote up in the interior forum on it. HOW TO: Fiberglass Your Door Panels
3. Get a fiberglass kit and modify it, like has been suggested. Much easier than trying to shape/even out a 100% custom kit.

If you have any other question, post em up or as Big Poppa. He currently has a thread going on in the Photos & MEdia forum about his custom widebody kit. Big Poppa's Custom Widebody

Good luck.
