not really sure where to put this, but I was thinking performance being that when you remove that huge ass thing that holds the hood, you are doing some weight reduction.
I want some pics of hood pin locations and reasoning behind why you put them where you did. I just bought the ford racing stainless steel kit from summit and am lookin to install it, but I want to see what others have before I do mine. thanks

shifted - do you have any pics from under the hood?

you do realize with hood pins you should keep the stock latch too right?

Now what would the point of that be? The only reason why I would want to use hood pins would be because I wanna get rid of the beast that I have pictured above. Now, if installed correctly, the hood pins should be more than sufficient. Actually, they should work better than ur hood latch, shouldn't they?

Well.. i dunno about you but to me hood pins are more security that the hood wont fly up.. now whats wrong with having another point of security as for the stock latch? Also think, they are made with the stock latch location.. so they are fairly strong in that spot but do have their flaws.. now ur drilling through the hood in a spot that might not be reinforced or as strong.. yes there are plates that act as anchors to spread the force, but still there is always a chance with pins that the hood could rip right off without ur stock latch... not common no.. but u would be suprised how easy it is to go to a car with just pins(locking style) and just rip the hood up and the pins rip right out..well fiberglass anyway, i guess c/f could be harder/stronger.
I mean if ur going to make this a track only car and weight reduction is really important.. yeh rip it out and just have pins.. but also remove the hinges and put 4 pins down.. 2 front 2 back.. but if this is ur dd just keep the stock latch in there..
Also hood pins will help to keep the latch, latched.. by keeping it down. most reason the hood flies up is from lift on the hood and it works it way out of the latch.. with the pins it gives that stock latch a lil more strength by reducing the amount of force placed on just the single latch.. spreads the force of the lift throughout 3 points..
yeah, its gonna be an autocross only car, maybe some street driving here and there, but for the most part, just autocross.

and if no latch think if you leave the car out gonna be really easy to steal the hood? i think that a jackass could just pop the pins out and undo the 2 nuts in the back and their you go..
5 seconds to find another street...
ive seen people who have the ram air lift off hood put locks as hood pins
