i know this may belong in another forum. but i just wanted to know what king of car wax u guys recommend by experience. i plan on waxing my BLACK truck. ive have always used regular turtle wax cuz its easy to apply and remove when it hazes.
does it say it removes minor swirl marks and scratches?? is it diff. to remove?
It's not difficult to remove, just make sure to use a 100% cotton towel to remove the stuff.
For scratches I use Scratch X by Meguiars. This stuff is amazing, it removed oxidation, scratches and swirls from my 03 silver Passat. Just make sure to use a moderate amount and rub it in with a towel.

how bout an applicator pad?? any experience on those new microfiber towels?? or just stick with old school terry towels? i have a couple deep scratches due to neighboring little kids with their bikes that thing my truck is a padestool (sp). my friend told me to buy that pen like thing they sell at autozone and match the color then use rubbing compound and then wax? any advice???
i use that tech wax by Meguiars. and i also use a motorized buffer and polisher. waxing the car goes faster and no swirls either

i used the turtle wax colored wax with that filler stick on my black 99 cav. i found that it was messy and you could really see the "filler stick" stuff in it even after it had been buffed and waxed. i think it stood out more then the scratchs because it looked like a quick fix.

Heres what I recommend.
5 step process: (hope the pics work)
1. Wash and Dry
2. Clay your surface to prep it.
3. DC1 (cleaner)
4. Either DC2 or #7 Polish
5. Wax. There are many diff waxes to choose from. My Personal fav is NXT gen wax.
OR Gold class is not bad either.
After you wax it, let it dry, remove, wait a couple of hours and do another coat of wax for even coverage(2 thin coats). Once you are all done, try your best not to drive it for 12hours, and try to keep it in a garage as you want the wax to 'cure' and fully bond to your paint.

Well for one, define "deep scratches". Auto body and paint rule of thumb is as follows when it comes to scratches:
"If your nail catches on the scratch, odds are even wetsanding and buffing won't get it out, it would have to be repainted. If your nail does not catch, you're still ok"
i.e. ... if your scratch runs from E to W on your car... and you lightly run your nail N to S... and it catches, you're SOL, wetsanding and buffing even won't get it out 99% of the time.
when did meguires come out with a clay bar kit? i can't find it any where. the mothers makes me sick because of the smell.
used Turtle wax ... turned out to be crap (white marks on plastic handles and rubber trim) Used Meguair's worked like a charm. My personal opinion don't go for cheap wax.
