I've done some searching and know opinions are greatly separated on the subject of vinyl stripes but for those that have them, what do you use to clean them?

My '05 was parked under a few trees until recently and after my semi-annual waxing session with Meguier's 3 step system, there is still some staining of the silver stripes. It looks like tree pollen that was left on there too long. I'd hate to have to strip them off the car and replace them but unless someone has another suggestion, that's what I'm going to end up doing. I've tried Bug and Tar remover but that's a joke. I even tried a little spot with some gasoline but that's probably going to melt the vinyl if I use too much and it didn't do anything anyway. Should I try one of those electric buffers?
