Yeah, so I just spent 30 mins in the back of my car with a coat-hanger to get into the trunk. I don't know what happened with the trunk popper but this is the second one I've gone through. At least this time I went with an '02 and up popper because they have the safety latch. Anyway...i haven't been able to put gas in the car because the trunk wouldn't open, so I spent those 30 mins snaking a coat hanger around the speaker box that my dumb ass built to fit the trunk. If I had a dollar for every time I've had to use a coat hanger to get into some part of my car because of some faulty popper I'd have 10's of dollars...its just really a pain in the but to rely on electrical parts...
And I'm not even going to get in on the time my battery went dead....I'm just glad I no longer had the air ride because it wouldn't have been possible to get my arm under the bumper to pop the hood.
So let this be a warning to any of you that are planning on shaving anything on a daily driver....

Windows are only like $15 at a junk yard
I know what you mean. I learned my lesson with the first cav. This time around, I'll be shaving locks but not handles. For the trunk, I plan to run a second auxillary/emergency solenoid.
I bet you have autoloc solenoids
LoL if your battery goes dead just pop the hood and jump pop it! Then you can get into the car to jump start it! I thought you where a smart guy... Just have to get a stock truck pull off a car in the yard. I'm with you on the it sucks to shave, but it just looks so much better. I've also thought about the alarm that rolls down the windows if I get another one, and power windows!

i never had a problem with the trunk popper i got off ebay for like 10 bucks. I also ran a cable from the latch to the back side of the seat so that if the popper ever stops workin i just pull the cable and it pops the trunk open
the love of a stock trunk release, my lock is shaved but i have the stock poper. but it sucks even more when u close the trunk with ur keys in it !

well that sucks
for next time tie some string around the latch now and run it to the back seat......so next time,,,just open the back seat and pull the string
*************Yea i spell liek wrong get over it*****************
** If i write in caps its cause im @ work and i can only write in caps cause the keyboard is a retarded CAPS only keyboard.**
Snazzi, this is something that I've worried a lot over and a main reason as to why my doors aren't shaved yet. If someone could come up with a RELIABLE way to do it, I'd be all for it. But if you rely on electronic things to get in, there is always the possibility that something can go wrong. And if your battery dies, then you're really in trouble. I also worry about it getting so cold here and sometimes I can't even get my door open without tugging on my handle.

That's what I do...and that's why I have a second key fob...lol

Wow... sounds like you should invest in some better poppers, say, NOT AUTOLOC??

autoloc products SUCK. ive had experience with 2. their solenoids (one was DOA, and they wouldnt honor their warranty because i didnt pay hundreds to have the same exact thing i did done at a shop) and their "hidden" antenna...metra's kicked the piss out of it.

this useless post brought to you by the alcoholic known as LUNDiS
heres an idea get the trunk release button from a newer cavalier water proof it some how with rubber of some kind and mount it in a rear wheel well or where your plate light is and splice it into ur factory wire for the trunk release , use a stock trunk release ! this way if ur remote battery dies you can still open the trunk , but if ur car battery dies ur stuck

^ Not all cavaliers have a stock trunk release. Mine doesn't, just the key fob (remote) pops the trunk.
