in the future i plan to get my car painted, but i was wondering how much of a clear coat i should get. i just want pretty much a stock amount of clear, maybe a little more. the reason i was asking is because i want to get some flake to put in it and was wanting to know how much flake i should get compared to the clear.
thanx in advance

Information
The answer you seek and more is in this sticky, #8 specifically... and more info. I'd suggest giving the whole thing a read.
Tell the shop what you want... if you've done your homework on them, and they're a reputable shop, they'll know what they're doing.
yup..thicker the better.....that way you or they can block it so its like glass...phil

thicker the better = false statement. See sticky post, #8.
If you want the "glass" look, tell the shop that... they will know what to do. Thicker does not equal better
Sorry bad post on my side...i meant an extra coat or two so it can be block sanded smooth thats all...phil

Ok that makes more sense
That would totally depend on whether or not he wants the glass look or not, which will cost more.
To the poster, read my sticky...and tell the shop what you want as far as an overall effect goes... if you've done your research they know what they're doing. Don't go in there and be like "Yeah I want 32 coats of clear (exaggeration) with this many coats of flake"... it'll just make you look like an idiot. Just tell them "this is how I want my car to look, and this is the effect I would want" and leave it at that. Like I said, if you've done your research on the shop and they do good work, they'll know what to do. They're not going to be happy if someone comes in there telling them how to do their job.
