I am thinking about getting some new z3 fenders for my sunfire, and i am wondering when i take them to a body shop to have them color match them and install them; do they paint the fenders off the car or on the car?
And if they paint them on the car wont they get overspay on the front doors etc; or is this how they do it to blend the paint?
If they paint them off the car and dont blend with the paint already on the car; wont the fenders look right new compared to the rest of the car and that will look all bad.
I just want to know the process before i get myself into something and cant turn back, lol
Thanks very much for any help you can give me.

Any respectable shop will want to paint them on the car so they can blend them into the doors and the hood ecspecially if you have an older Sunfire. If you have a 03+ it may not be needed.
If you have an older Sunfire and take just the fenders to a shop, when you go to put them on the color will not match due to fading of the old paint. So you will basically just have different color fenders.

Oh okay, thats how i thought they would do it, blend them with the rest of the car, cool thanks redecocav, damm i love your sedan.
Yeah i have a cf hood so no need to blend there, lol, so a shope would install them and then spray them and spray a bit on the doors to blend then right.....

Yeah pretty much although if you can install them and line them up I would do that to save a few pennies.

Okay cool, gotch ya, should not be too bad to install them eh; just like a hood, mess around until you get it to sit where you want it.
Thanks man, your siggy of your sedan is so sweet.

thats all going to depend on how good the fenders are. mine weren't to horribly bad and im sure i spent around 3-6 hours per fender getting them to fit up right. go cheaper and it may take more work then that.

Damm that is a long time to spend putting a fender on, that worries me.......
I am thinking on getting the vis z3's, vis products usaully fit pretty darn good.

Yeah i never seen many aftermarket fenders up close on cars, so i never seen any bad fitting ones; i just wont have the money to pay a body shop a few hours a fender to install; so hopefully me and a buddy can put them on.
What is involved, what do you have to remove????
